About SHM

Shepherd House Ministries, founded in 2006, is residential and out-patient "Christ centered" discipleship program designed to help girls and women deal with issues of abuse, depression, unplanned pregnancies, self-harm, addictions and eating disorders.

Shepherd House Ministries is a discipleship program to assist girls and women in crisis situations to make major life changes toward achieving independence and well-being by applying Biblical principles, enhancing social skills, improving relationships and growing in personal faith in Jesus Christ.

The girls and women will be taught how to live Biblically, to follow Jesus on a daily basis and to serve others.  Our desire is that while at
Shepherd House Ministries the girls and women will learn what it means to have "freedom in Christ" and to live the victorious, abundant life that Jesus offers.

The uniqueness of Shepherd House Ministries that sets us apart from every other program is our Biblical/Nouthetic emphasisNouthetic comes from the New Testament, Greek word Nouthesia (noun), and Noutheteo (verb), used largely by the apostle Paul which is sometimes translated "admonish, correct or instruct".  The three ideas found in the word nouthesia are Confrontation, Concern and Change.  Nouthetic counseling consists of lovingly confronting people out of deep concern in order to help them make those changes that God requires.  "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work".  2 Timothy 3:16 & 17  All curriculum will be NANC approved.  Curriculum will focus on counseling, reconciliation, education, food and fitness, worship, Bible reading, work detail, real life, activities, restoration and graduation.

Our program will also offer job-shadowing opportunities for its residents in a variety of different professions.  We will also encourage our graduates to return as leaders and mentors, taking part in our internship program.
